Who is Invited: Valparaiso residents who support unity in diversity and peace among people in the wonderful city we live in. Those from surrounding cities who support our cause, and would like to come join our prayer/meditation for peace and harmony in our city. If you support unity in diversity, you are invited.
Vigil Mission: To create a visible collaboration of those in our city who support unity in diversity. To bring together the greater collective of those in our city who support these values in the same place, at the same time. To bring this greater collective into prayer and/or meditation for the healing of our city from hate, discrimination, exclusion and the like–to pray and/or meditate for the peace, harmony, and unity in diversity that we desire in Valparaiso, IN. To join hands to take our stand for these values.
Ultimate Objective: To have enough hands to reach around the entire Porter County Courthouse Square.
What to Bring: Each attendee is asked to bring one candle and something to safely light it with. The candle brought must have a wide enough base that it will be able to independently sit on the ground while the attendees hold hands during the prayer/meditation portion of the vigil. Bring your entire family, your neighbors, and all of your friends. Each attendee is also asked to bring a positive attitude and demeanor of unity in diversity, and peace and harmony.
What Not to Bring: Do not bring a rally sign. This is a vigil, not a rally. Do not bring a confrontational or argumentative attitude. Do not bring yourself if you do not know that diversity means the inclusion of everyone. Do not bring an air of negativity, only positivity is allowed. This is a family affair & will be conducted as such. Thank you.
